What is the Healthy Moms and Babies (HMB) program?

Healthy Moms and Babies is Napa County’s only State approved Comprehensive Perinatal Services Program, providing coordinated care to all low-income women. The program provides free pregnancy and postpartum education, psychosocial counseling, nutrition counseling, Spanish language group classes, and case management services to eligible women. The staff work closely with the County obstetrical providers and assist you in making your first obstetrical appointment where your medical care will be provided. The HMB staff are experts in the application process for MediCal and in providing high quality education and support for a healthy pregnancy. All of the staff are bilingual in English and Spanish.

Who is eligible to receive services?

  • Women who live in Napa County with a positive pregnancy test AND
    • Have MediCal or Partnership Health Plan of Napa County with no share of cost or other insurance attached OR
    • Have no insurance and are low income – we help you apply for emergency insurance for pregnancy.

Once I am eligible, do the appointments or classes at Healthy Moms and Babies cost anything? Will I get a bill after my appointment?

  • No, you will not be charged for services you receive at Healthy Moms and Babies
  • We only bill MediCal, Partnership Healthplan, or Presumptive Eligibility for your appointments.

Do you only have appointments in Napa?

  • No, we have offices in Calistoga, St. Helena or Napa. You can pick the one most convenient for you.

What are your hours of service?

  • Our main office is open Monday through Thursday from 8:30-5:30 pm, Fridays from 8:30-1:30 pm.
  • Our office in Calistoga is open on Thursdays from 10:00-4:00 pm
